The MK-84 is the largest of the Mark 80 series. The Mark 84 is Low Drag General Purpose (LDGP) bomb and has a nominal weight of 2,000 lb (907.2 kg). MK-84 loaded with Tritonal high explosive filler.
The BLU-117A/B is a 2,000-pound bomb loaded with an insensitive munition PBXN-109 filler.
The bomb bodies have a thermal protective coating.
The BDU-56/B is used as Practice Bomb.

The bomb MK-84 has two wells for fuses. The nose well section for the mechanical or electronic fuzes, adapter booster, proximity sensor or penetrator plugs. The tail well section for the mechanical or electronic fuzes.
